Charlie Mitchell, Economic Development Office

 

Charlie Mitchell is the Director of the Linn-Benton Community College Small Business Development Center, commonly referred to as the SBDC.  He has been in this position since January 2017, following the resignation of Marc Manley, who is now the Executive Director of Oregon RAIN.Charlie has been an economic development professional, helping businesses of all sizes and types succeed in Oregon since 1996. He has worked for the City of Grants Pass, Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development, Inc. (SOREDI), the City of La Grande and the Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments.  He is one of only six certified economic development professionals in Oregon. He holds Bachelor of Science and Masters in Management degrees from Southern Oregon University.

Charlie has been an economic development professional, helping businesses of all sizes and types succeed in Oregon since 1996. Charlie is a native Oregonian and is a Veteran of the US Navy, where he served in Operation Desert Storm. He and his wife live in Corvallis with their two children who attend Crescent Valley High School and Linn-Benton Community College.

The Corvallis Benton County Economic Development Office contracts with the SBDC to provide Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) services to traded-sector businesses in Benton County.  In addition to his SBDC duties for LBCC, Charlie fulfills this role.  The BR&E work entails proactively developing relationships with traded-sector businesses throughout Benton County, assisting them with a myriad of development issues, assuring that we retain them in the community, and help them grow and thrive.
