Kate Porsche, Economic Development Officer

 

Kate Porsche is the Economic Development Officer for the Corvallis Benton County Economic Development Office.  She has been in this position since February 2018. Kate has been an economic development professional, helping businesses of all sizes and types succeed in Oregon for over a decade. She spent 10 years in the City of Albany working as the Economic Development and Urban Renewal Director, and most recently worked as the Community Development Director in Redmond, Oregon.  Kate is a certified Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED), as well as a licensed HAM radio operator (KG7QZB). . She is past president of the Association of Oregon Redevelopment Agencies (AORA), and serves as treasurer of the Oregon Economic Development Association (OEDA).

Her background in the public-sector paired with her work in communications, real estate, and as an analyst and database designer in the private sector have helped her to create strong public-private partnerships, focus on job creation, and guide the revitalization of the downtown historic cores of her communities. A native Oregonian with a strong belief in sustainability, recycling, and historic preservation, she and her husband have rehabilitated four historic homes in Albany.  Kate is a die-hard Beaver, having completed her Bachelor of Science and Masters in Public Policy at Oregon State University. 

Kate’s current work focuses on Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) services for traded-sector businesses in Benton County and helping the City of Corvallis and the Living Southdown group to create an urban renewal district in south Corvallis. She has a passion for Urban Renewal policy having written her master’s thesis on the subject and serving on state-wide boards focused on urban renewal. The BR&E work entails proactively developing relationships with traded-sector businesses throughout Benton County, assisting them with a myriad of development issues, assuring that we retain them in the community, and help them grow and thrive.
